STAMPIN’ GROUND Prove They’ve Still Got It – Live Report from Eightball Club (SKG)
Living in Thessaloniki and being into hardcore music can feel a bit like working in a butcher’s shop while being vegan. You’re not exactly blessed with options…
Thank God though, for promoters like Hardtimes Athens, who, against all odds, keep the scene breathing and deliver nights like the one we witnessed on Friday, March 27 at Eightball Club in Ladadika.
But let’s be brutally honest: Stampin’ Ground aren’t exactly a band you’d expect to still be tearing it up in 2026. It had been years, decades even, since their name last crossed my radar, and now that it did, my first thought was: what year is it again? So yes, I walked in truly excited, but with pretty low expectations. Especially considering the last time I saw them, they left me with average impressions.
Turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong…
But let’s rewind.
No delays whatsoever, no hassle, just a slick, well-run show with everything handled professionally. And we were properly spoiled too, with three support acts, Lungshot, Psycorepaths and Skybinder, turning the night into something far more intense than your average warm-up lineup. .
I won’t dwell too much on the supports; they did exactly what they came to do, and did it perfectly. But I definitely want to highlight how much the local scene of Thessaloniki has been crying out for a band like Lungshot, something we can finally be proud to call “our own”. And then came Psycorepaths… And honestly, I was shocked. A band that’s apparently been around for years, yet somehow flew under my radar, and I can now easily say they’re one of the most exciting Greek acts I’ve heard in a long time. Tight, confident, with plenty of weight. Stage presence? On point (keep on two-stepping). Songwriting? On point (at least to my ears). And a modern hardcore feel that gives the band insane potential, hopefully something they recognize themselves, so we don’t end up wondering in a few years where they disappeared to, as has happened with so many promising bands before.
And just like that, Skybinder, the third band, serving up straight metalcore for the genre heads, passed the torch to Stampin’ Ground, whom as I mentioned earlier, I had my doubts about.
And here’s the thing: it took them about twenty seconds to flip my switch.
From the very first note, it was obvious: These weren’t kids anymore. This was a unit. Sharp, and absolutely locked in. Out of nowhere, with a crystal clear sound, a flawless performance, a relentless energy, and a top-tier crowd interaction, a massive hardcore party broke out from a band I expected almost nothing from.
Mosh pits. Circle pits. Singalongs. Chaos, in the best possible way. Every breakdown hit like a trigger, and the crowd responded instantly, with no hesitation, no thinking.
And the highlight of the night? You guessed right. “Officer Down”, where Adam (the frontman) moved from the stage onto a column by walking over the tables and eventually climbed up to the Eightball balcony, reminding us all to “never skip leg day” or any day at the gym.
By the end of the show, it was all smiles, sweat and that rare sense of a night that actually delivered more than it promised. And if this is the level we’re getting, let’s not leave it too long before the next one.
